I just finished this painting. Since I have the Studio set up I have done several paintings. It is a wonderful space. It is hard to believe that it is finally here for me. It is a good thing that I have it set up, I have 6 commissions!!!! to get done.
Let me tell you a little bit about the painting above. I saw the scene about 20 years ago. That was before 911. Before Home Land Security made many areas of the harbor off limits to the general public. I remember being mesmerized by the shear size of the ship up so close. At the time I was working for UTMB and was not sure if I would ever use the scene for a painting, someday, someday… While I was putting things up in the studio, I came across the photograph and was once again struck by the immense size and power of the ship. Even though I had other paintings to work on, I had to paint “Moored”.
The Grand Opening for Tyler Studio will be April 22nd, 2 pm-4 pm. I do hope that you can come to the opening. It is easy to get to the studio: Go West on Hiway 7, just off 45, take County Road 318 just west of Jack in the Box. The studio is 2.5 miles down CR 318. The Driveway is on the right, the address is 3828 CR 318.
I am now working on the commissions and another shot of the Gumbo Bar in Galveston. Of course, I am also working on getting the Studio ready for the Grand Opening. Hope to see you next Sunday.
I have started signing up people interested in taking art classes. I will be teaching children on a case by case basis. I will also be available for adult classes some evenings and on weekends. Both the children’s and adult classes will have limited enrollment.
