I have come to the end of August with mixed emotions. I have so enjoyed the last month up here in the heart of Texas. I have done as I planned, spent the majority of time doing Plein Air paintings. I have completed 8 landscape paintings. As anyone who does Plein Air knows, the hardest part of painting from nature-out in nature is getting started. I found that if I got out by 8 am, it was comfortable and I had perfect light. I would pretty much finish the rough draft of the painting by 10 am, take it back to the studio and finish the work over the next couple of days.
I have posted most of the paintings on Facebook and this web page. I am looking forward to doing the same in Galveston. There is something very invigorating of painting in nature. So Galveston here I come. I will start with the coast landscapes.
So my next big push is to get back to Galveston and get the 2015-16 Gallery Season kicked off: Mark the date for our first show on October 3rd, 5pm-9pm: Ruth Downes. We have a great season coming up. Sure hope that you can drop by the Studio for the Open Houses, ArtWalk or just some afternoon.
