I paint because I have to. The drive in me has been pent up for years. I started painting when I was in 8th grade. My grandmother was a very good artist and when she visited from California, she taught me some fundamentals. I was thrilled and hooked! I ended up by majoring in art at Sam Houston back in the early 70’s. I was so happy! Then life happened. I had 2 children to raise and I knew that the “starving artist” wasn’t going to cut it. So I spent the next 30 years in health care. I did use my creative spirit in my career caring for patients, but I keep telling myself, that some day I would be able to devote all of my time to art. Now I am there and I am happy.
