Tonight Tyler Studio is participating in the Assistance League of League City (ALLC) to help Children at risk in the Bay Area. There are about 25 artists that will have their work available for sale; contributing part of the proceeds to the ALLC. The money will be used to buy school clothes for children at risk. This very worthy event was the brain child of Ellen Lancaster. Ellen is a pretty impressive women. In her life time she has practiced law, started the Boys & Girls Club of Austin County, authored 8 children’s books, plus many more accomplishments. Currently she is a Professor at U of H and is an artist is her own right. Ellen is a poster child for the concept of embracing her creativity and socialization as she ages. As an older adult she finds her fulfillment in her family and creativity. She is often hosting parties for family and friends. Once a week she hosts artists who come to her home to paint and socialize. This is the part of her life that I find the most intriguing. I have watched her with the artists at the gatherings on Fridays. She not only fosters this “inclusive creative environment” , but she thrives on teaching and sharing her creative knowledge and experiences. She doesn’t have a fancy studio, she does all of this quite artfully in her kitchen and breakfast room.
In March Ellen is going to be the featured artist at Tyler Studio. I really am looking forward to her show, but most of all I am enriched by knowing her and hope that you will take the opportunity to come to the show in March to meet her and see her work.
Take a minute to visit www.tylerstudio.org. I have added new works and soon I will post Randall Cogburn’s body of work for his upcoming show. Remember Randall’s show will start November 14th from 5pm- 8pm. Hope to see you there. Susan
